Turmeric

AKA: Curcuma

Scientific: Curcuma longa

Family: Zingiberaceae

Part used: Extracted & Fermented Root

Where: Kerala, India

Phyto-Nectars: Resilient

Why

Studied extensively for a diverse array of therapeutic properties, turmeric root contains many bioactive compounds, curcuminoids, sequesterpenes, volatile oils, alkaloids, saponins, tannins and flavonoids. The therapeutic curcuminoids are poorly absorbed by humans, through a unique fermentation process we convert all compounds into more bioactive forms and curcumin into the more active tetrahydrocurcumin. We ferment the whole root to ensure nutrients are not lost.

Fermented turmeric root also has parabiotic, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective and immunomodulating effects, which is why it is a key part of our Resilient formula.
